Index Committees

CoinAPI's index governance is primarily managed through two key committees:

Index Oversight Committee

The Index Oversight Committee is the highest governing body for CoinAPI Indexes.

Responsibilities:

  • Approve new index launches and major methodology changes
  • Review and approve the annual methodology review
  • Oversee the integrity of the index determination process
  • Review and address potential conflicts of interest
  • Oversee the complaint handling and escalation process

Composition:

  • At least one senior executive from CoinAPI
  • At least two independent members with relevant industry expertise
  • A compliance officer or legal representative

The committee meets quarterly and on an ad-hoc basis when necessary.

Index Management Committee

The Index Management Committee is responsible for the day-to-day management of the indexes.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and interpret index methodologies
  • Conduct regular index reviews and rebalances
  • Monitor market developments and assess their impact on indexes
  • Propose methodology changes for Oversight Committee approval
  • Handle routine index-related inquiries

Composition:

  • Head of Index Management
  • Senior index analysts
  • Data quality specialists

This committee meets monthly and as needed for time-sensitive matters.
